Hey Google! Awesome to have you here. I’m excited to learn all about Google Creative Lab, but first you want to learn about me – so here goes.
Fun fact: I once cycled 300km in a day. It was quite a long day but it’s a story that will tie everything together. Let me explain.
Sure, you can dig about on here for examples of my work – of how much fun I had channelling my most enthusiastic joyful labrador-like self to lead the creative team at tails.com, or the stuff I did for a really cool AI startup for image recognition, or the poem I wrote for a whisky, and so on – but there’s just one thing I want you to see right now, and it’s not from my ‘work work’ at all.
It’s from my blog, because that’s where you’ll find me at my most thoughtful, passionate, and uninhibited.
And if you were to read just one story on there, it should be the time I rode my bicycle 300km in a day. It started as a bonkers idea between a couple of friends and then none of us wanted to back out, so we did it.
And while we’re on the subject of bikes, I wouldn’t have got anywhere at all without Google Maps. I wouldn’t have found my way through the rain-soaked outer reaches of Scotland, or the lost lanes of Kent, or the weirder bits of London, or anywhere else without that little blue line leading the way. And for that I will be forever thankful.
Now go read it, because I really did cycle 300km in a day. It’s all about teamwork and having the right snack at the right time – just like the creative process.
And then I’d love to talk to you all about bonkers ideas and brilliant teams at Google Creative Lab. Thank you!
